Made with fresh Cortland apples from Princeville, Quebec and hearty Canadian oats flakes, these gluten-free apple almond oat energy bites are naturally sweetened with pure maple syrup and the nutty richness of almond butter. Mixed with chopped almonds, cinnamon, sesame seeds, then coated in rich dark chocolate, each bite offers a comforting blend of sweet apple flavor and wholesome oat texture. These oven-baked energy bites are light, nourishing, and perfect as a healthy snack, breakfast-on-the-go, or afternoon treat to keep your stomach happy and satisfied.

Servings: Approx. 22 pieces (4 x 4 cm each)

INGREDIENTS

2 medium apples (approx. 350g): Peeled and diced
2 cups Oat flakes (rolled oats)
1/2 cup Almond butter
1/2 cup Almonds, chopped (reserve a few pieces for garnish if desired)
2 tbsp Sesame seeds
2 tbsp Maple syrup
1/2 tsp Cinnamon powder
1/2 tsp Salt
60g Dark chocolate chips, roughly chopped

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Prepare the Apples: Peel and dice the apples. Process them in a food processor until they form a smooth purée.

2. Reduce Moisture: Heat a pan over medium heat. Add the apple purée and sauté for about 10 minutes to reduce the liquid. This ensures your bars won't be too soft.

3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the apple purée, almond butter, and maple syrup. Whisk until smooth.

4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate large bowl, mix the oat flakes, chopped almonds, sesame seeds, cinnamon, and salt.

5. Mix Everything: Fold the dry ingredients into the apple mixture until thoroughly combined.

6. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Transfer the mixture to the baking sheet, pressing it down firmly until it is approximately 2 cm thick. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.

7. Cool & Slice: Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. While still warm, slice into 4 x 4 cm squares. Let them cool completely.

8. Chocolate Finish: Melt the chocolate (using a double boiler or microwave in 20-second intervals). Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled bites, then place them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to set.

STORAGE TIPS
Refrigeration: Due to the moisture from the fresh apples, please store the bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will stay fresh and delicious for up to 5 days.

Freezing: For longer storage, you can freeze the bites for up to 1 month. Wrap them individually in parchment paper or place them in a freezer-safe bag.

Serving: If frozen, let the bites thaw at room temperature for about 10–15 minutes before enjoying. This helps restore the perfect texture.
