Pan-Fried Spiced Cauliflower Steak
Fresh Quebec cauliflower is marinated in garlic, paprika, cumin, and maple syrup, then pan-fried to a crispy, flavorful perfection for a satisfying, healthy steak.

INGREDIENTS
600g fresh cauliflower from Quebec, (2 medium-sized heads of cauliflower)
5 tablespoons vegetable oil (3 tablespoons for marinade, 2 tablespoons for pan-frying)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon lemon juice
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Position the cauliflower upright and cut it vertically into pieces about 2 cm thick.
(around 4 pieces)
2. In a bowl, mix together 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil, minced garlic, paprika, black pepper, cumin powder, salt, maple syrup, and lemon juice to make the marinade.
3. Add the cauliflower pieces to the bowl and thoroughly coat them with the marinade.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.
4. Heat a pan over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
5. Place the marinated cauliflower pieces in the pan and fry for about 3 minutes on one side.
Turn the pieces over and fry for another 3 minutes.
6. Continue turning the cauliflower pieces every 3 minutes until they are tender and cooked through, for a total of around 20-25 minutes.
